The Pointe at Barclay

Construction is well under way at the new mixed-use complex along South 17th Street in Wilmington, with the flagship businesses proposed to open in the first quarter of 2017.

Hill Rogers, the broker-in-charge of Cameron Management, notes that "It's a mix and match. You go with local folks that have proven to  be successful and popular, and that adds credibility. But you also want to bring in things that are new and people haven't had before."

Stone Theaters, a 14-screen movie house, will be the centerpiece of The Pointe.

Local restauranteurs Ash Aziz and BT Corrigan have been tapped to bring new fare to the two buildings flanking the movie theater. Aziz, owner of local favorites Circa 1922, Osteria Cicchetti, and Boca Bay, will open a wood-fired pizzeria; while Corrigan, owner of Halligan's, will open an American-Irish pub, to be named Tavern on 17th.

The city is clamoring over the recently announced additions to The Pointe, which will reportedly also include a Ben & Jerry's ice cream, Duck Donuts, Lee nails, Sport Clips, Far from France bakery, as well as new locations for existing Wilmington sandwich-eries, Chop's Deli and Which Wich. Nikki's Sushi, Starbucks, and secondary locations of Orange Theory Fitness and Zoe's Kitchen will all open in the second half of 2017.

The site plans indicate a total of 15 buildings to be constructed, including a grocery store, convenience store and gas station, and many more retail and restaurant spaces.
