Three Onslow Towns Named Best for First-time Buyers

NerdWallet, Inc. recently analyzed the best cities in North Carolina for first-time homebuyers. Three Onslow area towns ranked in the top ten!

Data on cities from across the Tar Heel State was examined to see the growth of population, appreciation of home value, median income, and crime rating between 2010 and 2013.  Half Moon (5th), Jacksonville (8th), and Piney Green (9th) proved to be among the best places for first-time homeowners to live.

The financial advisory company has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNBC, and Forbes. They also evaluated Alabama and New Jersey markets in this report.

Team Gale's area expert, Shelbi Micciche, has nothing but good things to say about the ranking townships.

Half Moon, in particular, is a community in the greater Jacksonville area that is getting attention from buyers, because "folks are finding that it is just outside of the city limits so there are no city taxes!" Shelbi explains, "It is just far enough away for your to enjoy the peace of Eastern North Carolina's farm country, but not a burden to drive the ten minutes to grab a gallon of milk."

Jacksonville itself has been steadily booming in the last four years, "with big shopping and restaurant interests investing in the area for the long haul." The established and respected presence of the Marine Corps "has helped bring folks from all over the country for managerial training," she observes, in turn encouraging the growth of the local economy with each new family arrival. Likewise, the increased traffic along Piney Green Road, as an access to Camp Lejeune, has attracted the attention of small businesses to Piney Green Market.
