    Iron Man's House For Sale?!?!

OK, in the last few weeks I have seen several interesting homes on the market or at least talked about. First there was the zombie-proof house complete with a drawbridge entrance and then it was the "Home Alone" house for sale in Chicago. Now I have been told of one better- Iron Man's house is for sale!

    New Hanover County Schools

GreatSchools.org is a wonderfully useful tool when deciding what school district to move to. They not only rank schools based on standardize testing but they allow parents to review the schools for others to see. Long gone are the days of asking around and hoping you pick the right school for your kids. Now, with greatschools.org, you can easily determine which school is right for your child.

These are the school rankings for all public New Hanover County District Schools. These rankings are based on testing scores, not parent reviews. Star ratings may be higher, so ...

    Summer Offerings

Amos Lee has a new song out that I can’t get enough of: “Windows Are Rolled Down.” It makes me think of summer and everything the Port City has to offer both locals and visitors alike.

Local roadside produce stands and farmers markets. I know, I have talked about them in the past, but a fresh, juicy peach on a hot summer’s day is just about perfection.

Swimming pools & beaches. Whether you ride waves or prefer a fish-free swim, Wilmington has you covered (she types as she thinks about the freshly uncovered YWCA pool). If you want the feel of a lake, try driving out on Carolina...

    Introductions Please!

It occurred to me this afternoon that while I am developing a small yet growing group of readers, I have never properly introduced myself to the world of Team Gale. I won’t bore you with all the details of how I came to be the writer that types before you because they are, well, boring. Instead I will give you just few tasty tidbits that hopefully entice you enough to follow me outside of Team Gale (or at least follow TG on the various sites I maintain).

First and for most I am obviously Mary Beth Tice, blogger, marketer, social media butterfly and a true blue local. That...

    Sell Your House

We have all seen the TV shows where the crew comes into a house that just won’t sell, parade a bunch of people through, make the owner listen to the snide remarks, fix up the home then like magic, it sells. Problem is none of the owners seem to realize exactly what the problem is until a stranger points it out. I often wonder if their agent says anything to them about the clutter, color or smell. I would hope my agent would speak up but then again, I hope I know better after watching many, many hours of these shows and years spent working in the real estate field. Question is- ...

Tips to Spruce up Your Living Room

I was sitting in my den the other day only to realize that while it’s my favorite room in the house because of its coziness, it is in need of an update. I don’t have a lot of money to spend making over different rooms of the house and as a few of my readers know, since I currently live with my parents, I don’t think my mom would like me painting the kitchen, living room and den “just because.” What I can do is revamp what I have and add in a few inexpensive items to suddenly have a den that looks brand new. Here’s my game plan that you are welcome to use as y...

Books are a reader’s best friend, I should know as I own a great many books myself. Today’s technology allows us to now view our favorite books without using trees to create them. The 15th Annual Pleasure Island Chowder Cook Off

Six of my favorite words regarding Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Fort Fisher) are “The Pleasure Island Chowder Cook Off.” Just the memory of sampling the local fare is enough to get my mouth watering and my taste buds jumping. My last visit not only resulted in my best friend and I voting for the winner (Carolina Beach’s own Surfhouse) but in earning a delightful lobster necklace that still hangs from my truck’s rearview mirror. With live music, a kid zone and 8 local restaurants doling out samples (plus other food vendors once yo...
